Irish Water Spaniel Field Trials April 2013 Clinton Co. Sportsman Club


At the recent Irish Water Spaniels Field Trials held at the Clinton Co. Sportsman Club all eyes were literally on our mallard ducks. Handlers, dogs, the judge, and the gallery were all actively watching where the ducks landed.

If you have never had the opportunity to go watch one of these field trials I would recommend it. The team effort of the handlers and the dogs is amazing. I had never watched one until recently the organization purchased mallards from our farm. So I attended to watch and learn more about what the competitors was needing from the ducks. Now I have watched many a dog show with daughters showing in 4-H and open agility but this was definately a different task for handlers and dogs. They competed on both land and in the water.
